Using cold pressed rapeseed oil is the next best thing for foodies, both professional and domestic.
A crop that's generally taken for granted in the county of Lincolnshire, over 575,000 hectares of crop is grown each year. 22% is used for biofuel, 13% as setaside but 65% is used in food production.
Predominantly, it's oil is blended with other oils - like blended whiskies, vin du table or mass produced tea - but Redhill-based Oleifera, made from plants grown across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, is now producing a single crop oil - the equivalent of a single malt whisky, wine appellation or single estate teas.
Conventionally rapeseed oil is produced from seeds from different varieties that are crushed at high temperature, with solvents used to remove every last drop of oil from the seed.
The oil is distilled to remove the solvent, bleached to remove the colour, then treated with a mix of chemicals to remove the flavour and odour.
The result is oil that is indistinguishable from any other; an oil with none of the character of natural, pure rapeseed oil.
Companies like Oleifera cold press their oil, with no chemicals or heat used in the extraction process. It is simply pressed then filtered, bottled labelled and packaged on site.
The result of this single-rapeseed crop cold pressed oil is a product that's even healthier than olive oil. Cold pressed rapeseed oil has just 6% saturated fat! - olive oils have around 14%, sunflower around 10%- the fat that contributes to heart disease, diabetes and obesity!!
Oleifera oil provides high levels of Omega 3 6 and 9. Happy cooking...The Best of Lincolnshire

Steam Punk Festival
The festival is a combination of exhibitions, trade stalls, authors and artists, workshops, presentations and of course lots and lots of live original music. The main attraction however is the participants themselves. Up to 1000 well dressed and well mannered steampunks enjoying the delightful "Steampunk Quarter" of Lincoln.
Unlike many conventions and festivals The Asylum is what might be termed a "campus" event. They use several venues but all within a stones throw of each other in the historic quarter of Lincoln. This year's venues are Lincoln Castle, The Lawns, Charlotte House and The Victoria Inn.
The Asylum is organised and run by the Victorian Steampunk Society which is a not-for-profit organisation which exists to promote the Steampunk Community in the UK. People attending are granted associate membership of the VSS so the event is in effect a series of private functions but the colourful nature of Steampunk means we also make quite an impression on the City.
Worth popping over to Lincoln!

Self catering apartment Lincoln. Available from July 14th
We have recently been asked to market a stunning 2 bed apartment on Eastgate by Lincoln Cathedral. This annexe to Disney Place has two double (en-suite) bedrooms, a lounge, conservatory and the most stunning garden!
It is available from the 12th July for just 2 months and we are offering it to guests from just a 2 night stay.
The annexe is part of Disney Place and so it's owners have provided their own furniture. The conservatory is normally used by themselves, as too the garden. However, as they are away for this time, we have been given exclusive use of the garden and conservatory.
The kitchen is basic but functional. It is a truly special place and with off street parking, this really is an idyllic spot for anyone looking for a unique experience in Lincoln's exclusive Cathedral Quarter.
We will be popping images onto our site as soon as the re-decorating has finished.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call Alison on 01522 530274.
We look forward to welcoming you to The West Wing of Disney Place.

RAF SCAMPTON
Andrew & I have just returned from an excellent tour of RAF Scampton, home of the Red Arrows. We wanted to experience the tour at RAF Scampton so that we at Lincoln Town Houses, could offer and promote the tours through our web site and directly to our guests.
Formed in November 1916, under the name of Brattleby the Station has been at the forefront of Avaition Technology.
In May 1943 Wing Commander Guy GIbson led the attack against the Mohne and Eder Dams. This earned the Station its 3rd and best known Victoria Cross.
Guy Gibson's black labrador, Nigger, was tragically killed on the night of the Dambusters raid. His grave is at RAF Scampton!
Scampton catered for the Vulcan Bombers in the late fifties till the early eighties. In 1983 Scampton moved from Strike Command over to Support Command. The next decade was when it became base for the World Famous Red Arrows Aerobatics Team.
They remained at Scampton until 1995 when they were moved to RAF Cranwell.
A team from Vosper Thornycroft servicing the Tucano trainer, moved into Scampton and at the end of 2000 the Red Arrows returned.
We were privaledged to meet two of the Red Arrows yesterday after watching them both train for the RAF Waddington Air Show on the 2nd & 3rd July 2010.
The rest of the team are currently in Greece.
Bookings for a tour can be arranged through
Roger Crisp (Dep Curator RAF Scampton Museum) Tel:01522 500738/733029
The tour is approximately 2 hours long. Cameras are permitted with restrictions.
Try to book it when the Red Arrows are on base as the atmosphere is amazing, especially as they land and taxi past you!!

What's happening
It's been a fabulous week here in Lincoln, the sun has been shining and Lincoln has come alive at weekends with so many visitors taking to the City.
The 'Bailgate Restored' project is going to plan with very little dissruption to local shopping and businesses. The York Stone is stunning and it enhances the Bailgate a great deal.
Lincoln Town Houses continue to thrive with many local Brides booking our accommodation for their families and friends. We have our regular Barristers who love the location and convenience of the self catering accommodation.
Spring Hill Town House is coming along nicely, we should have the Town House available by mid June and have already taken bookings for this stunning and spacious property.
Waddington Air Show is scheduled for the 3rd & 4th July and this is going to be one of the biggest yet! Bare in mind, last year, there was not a single place to stay in Lincoln over this particular weekend!!! So if you are planning on coming, please book early. We only have Spring Hill Town Houses available for these dates.
The Steam Punk Festival is going to be twice as large as last year and this is scheduled to run on the 10th & 11th September, accommodation will be difficult so our adivce is to book early! Again, we only have Spring Hill Town Houses available!
We are so excited about the newly refurbishe Lincoln Theatre Royal!! It has some amazing shows scheduled for the year, you MUST take a look at their web site which we are always promoting on our home page via Twitter!! and Facebook.
We look forward to welcomming you to Lincoln Town Houses! Please call soon.

We have just said goodbye to the family of the late Keith Alexander. They have been with us for 13 days. Sadly their trip from St Lucia was to attend the funeral of their much loved son, and brother the popular football manager, Mr Keith Alexander, who died at the age of 53 after suffering a fatal brain haemorrhage.
The funeral was attended by almost 2000 people from all over the world. It was held at Lincoln Cathedral and was truly a wonderful farewell for Keith.
We wish all the family to take comfort in knowing he is at peace.
